Title: Reaction-diffusion systems
Post by: Calcyman on September 27, 2010, 06:25:22 PM
Has anyone considered the use of reaction-diffusion systems to generate natural terrain? It is the principle behind pattern formation in many natural phenomena.

Reaction-diffusion systems belong to the more general class of partial differential equations, which can model everything from heat transfer to fluid dynamics.

Update: There is a new exciting piece of software for simulating reaction-diffusion systems: http://cp4space.wordpress.com/2012/08/24/are-you-ready/ (http://cp4space.wordpress.com/2012/08/24/are-you-ready/)

Nice. This looks a lot like Fragmentarium - except that it specifically targets reaction/diffusion and cellular automata phenomena.
