Title: Mandelbulber Images
Post by: 8rays on September 09, 2010, 12:51:18 PM
Hi,

I found the Mandelbulber software and this forum yesterday. Thanks so much for the amazing work and inspiration! I find myself with a huge amount of excitement for 3d fractals and the possibilities :)

In my excitement, I showed some of my initial renders to one of my friends, who I am currently working on some artwork for his forthcoming book. He asked if it may be possible to use these renders in some artwork for the book? I wanted to ask if this would be okay? and thought this would be the proper place to ask.

Many many thanks for the software, algorithms and inspiration :)

Matt

a render I computed.....

Greetings, and Welcome to this particular Forum !!!    :)

Actually, many of the so-called 3D images you seen in this Forum are really only 2-D graphics only simulating 3-D through technical methods.  There are only a few fractal generators that are capable of producing TRUE 3-D fractals, those that can be saved as Objects.

Anything thing you create yourself, from your own explorations, becomes your own property to do with as you wish.  But if you are using somebody's posted parameters, which were used to create a specific image, then you should ask permission of the originator.

Hi,

As Nathee wrote, If your friend want to publish some images rendered using Mandelbulber when he create own fractal settings, he can do this without asking anybody. But when he want to publish some my images or rendered directly from settings files delivered with Mandelbulber he have to ask me for permission.
Mandelbulber program is free and open source, but my images are copyrighted.

Hi, Thanks for the welcomes and clarifications. I have really enjoyed exploring the sets with this software :)  and seeing the incredible work that is being produced on the forum :)

Thanks once again :) I really appreciate the efforts and time you all go to. I feel that my exploration into this world has only just begun.
