Title: Symmetries in planar slices of Mandelbox
Post by: G on September 02, 2010, 08:30:48 PM
Hello all,

I'm writing a program to render planar x-y slices of the mandelbox, and I'm wondering whether it is always true that such slices are symmetric around the x and y axis, just like the Mandelbrot set is symmetric around the x axis.

Thanks.

The mandelbox has all the symmetries of the cube (48). You only get to take advanage of 8 of the symmetries for xy plane. The kaleidoscope varations break the symmetries.
