Title: Different mandelbulbs and mandelboxes Post by: paolo on July 29, 2010, 11:04:01 PM Would it be possible to make a Mandelbulb and a Mandelbox with a scale of i? Using a scale of an imaginary or complex number? Also is there a way of making a 4d and even a 5d Mandelbox and rendering a 3d slice of this Mandelbox using intersection?
Title: Re: Different mandelbulbs and mandelboxes Post by: cKleinhuis on July 29, 2010, 11:12:58 PM i think in the algebra section this was discussed, at least for using complex numbers as exponents, for the bulbs this has just not been achieved yet, but it should be possible for the mandelbox a problem arises, that is that complex numbers, or higher order numbers are hard to compare, e.g. you can not really say what is bigger (-1,0i) or (1,0i) or (0,-1i) or (0,1i) which is the biggest ? ( the length is not good enough, because all have equal length: 1 i mean for the box folding operations you would need some kind of comparison .... correct me if i am wrong |
