how many transformations are in use ? when comes the mandelbox ? :D Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Post by: crotafang on July 28, 2010, 04:19:12 PM I had five triangles:
Triangle #1: Julian = 0.5, zscale = 0.175 Triangle #2: Same as triangle #1, but with a post_rotate_x = 1 Triangle #3: Same as triangle #1, but with a post_rotate_y = 1 Triangle #4: Same as triangle #1, but with a post_rotate_x = 0.5, post_rotate_y = 1 Triangle #5: Same as triangle #1, but with a post_rotate_x = -0.5, post_rotate_y = 1 Each triangle had the following coordinates: X = (-0.135, -0.5), Y = (-0.635, 0), O = (-0.135, 0) And as for the Mandelbox, I think I may need to add in some sinusoidals in the mix, but I'm not sure. I'll experiment though, and I'll see what I come up with. I'm as excited about that Mandelbox as you are! :D :D Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Post by: cKleinhuis on July 28, 2010, 10:15:28 PM i see you managed mehow to resemble the transformations of the mandelbulb into those standard transforms ;) perhaps this will lead to new insights ;) ( still in holiday )

Post by: crotafang on July 28, 2010, 10:41:04 PM i see you managed mehow to resemble the transformations of the mandelbulb into those standard transforms ;) perhaps this will lead to new insights ;) ( still in holiday ) Well I hope it does lead to new insights into these sorts of fractals. The insight I had was that since the Mandelbulb is supposed to be a 3D variation of the Mandelbrot set, I thought, maybe if I somehow make a 2D Mandelbrot fractal in Apo and then translate it into 3D, I may have a Mandelbulb-like fractal. So I read about how to make a 2D Mandelbrot-like fractal from this site ( http://briefinsights.blogspot.com/2009/02/apophysis-mandelbrot.html ). Then I did some experimentation and figured out that the zscale and post-rotates could make it look 3D. It was then that I finally made an Apo Mandelbulb. You're welcome to try a variation of the transforms I posted; I'd be eager to see what you come up with. PS. Time problem. Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Post by: quaternion on August 12, 2010, 02:28:33 AM I think I can use MandelBulber for solid renderings) Now I made simple colorcube finder. In paar hours I can make 1000 spirals.

Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Post by: Xenodimensional on April 12, 2011, 06:30:42 AM Nice work! ;D
I had a bit of a play with it, the params you posted didn't seem to work exactly as well as your pic (in Apo 7x), I had to tweak the weights and Julian Power to get a Mandelbulb type thing. I attached both in a .flame file in case anyone wants to play with them. Title: Re: YES! A Mandelbulb in Apophysis!!! Post by: LhoghoNurbs on August 20, 2011, 05:23:18 PM Crotafang, I, I, I watched the animation, then something happened to my eyes ... I went to my doctor, but was not able to explain what I saw ... I told her "apophysis" and she said she has never heard of it being related to eyes ... so I showed her the animation ... and now we are both looking for another doctor. :)

In case you don't know what I mean by "sheep" http://community.electricsheep.org/ Apophysis works for making sheep, so that mandelbulb can be uploaded and used as a screensaver (and improved by evolution, if people vote up.) Title: New Version of Apophysis Bulb Post by: crotafang on December 08, 2011, 11:48:25 PM I think I've improved the Apophysis bulb. This time, instead of using julian, I used julia3D. I attached the image file for it.
Here are the params.
