WOW!

What program compiles animations like that?

And how long do they take to render??

Wow...

Just.. Wow.

Ultra Fractal is one such program (though I forget which one did the famous "known universe" one shown here), and the rendering time can be measured in hundreds, if not thousands of hours unless you can link computers together to assist in the task.

Even now I've got a minute-plus movie being rendered, which has taken 250 hours and threatens to take another 160. And the "time remaining" keeps increasing because the further in you zoom, the more intense the calculations needed.

Edit: It's over 500 hours taken and at least 260 left to go now.

Thanks!

I may have to break down and Actually BUY a program!

I tend to stick to freeware and render frames individually, then compile them by hand!  This is fine for 25 - 50 frames...  but hundreds may need some sort of automation!

I'm still impressed by that one!

Gahh...wha... *faints*

I can barely stand the 40 minutes to an hour it takes for one of mine to render s..s

I salute you... for you have extreme patience

I like to set these things rendering and leave for my day job.

I get Work done while at employment that way!

that animation looks suspiciously like the work of Lloyd Garrick.  If not, anybody who loved that animation needs to visit his site asap.  He's generated some of the deepest zooms out there. (with fractInt!).  Check out his other work too - his non-zooming animations have the same mind-subliming material Paul pointed us to.

Yes, Lloyd "jackoftradez" Garrick does have a very fine collection of zooms created using FractInt.  And they are all well worth the time spent downloading and viewing.

I believe he may be working on a new one based upon the PAR file from David "sunfish" M. Fisher.  It will be interesting to see how it comes out.

It's "Universe #3X," a revised version of the classic "Universe #3."  There's a nice big version at http://www.fractal-animation.net/ufvp.html.  Scroll down about halfway.  As far as I know, Lloyd's right about this being the deepest fractal zoom ever made.

The original "Universe #3" is no longer on the UFVP page, but somebody posted it to YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l_WRRpC9UA
