Title: knock knock Post by: Oppenheimer_ on June 30, 2010, 05:18:19 PM Hey it's me oppenheimer :embarrass:
I just wanted to say hi to you fractalists. I'm a graphic designer from Germany who's interested in fractals of all kinds since ages. Can't remember right, but it must have been like december '09 that i visit ff in irregular intervals. This whole Mandelbulb-Story struck me like a lightning. Yeah, and in the meanwhile i get to know some interesting ppl connected to that and i'm no stranger to some of you. Those who don't know me from deviantArt may click this link (http://oppenheimer.deviantart.com/) to see what i am doing. I'm currently coding a little prog by myself. It's called Animus and serves as a GUI/Animator for Tacitus a Mandelbulb/Mandelbox etc. render-engine being developed by Xyrus (http://www1.xyrus.clan-boa.com/). Today i just tried out Mandelbulb 3D 1.5 and i find it's pretty convincing. Though i need some time to fully understand it. Here's how a quick test turned out: (http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/6660/ufocrash.gif) (http://img19.imageshack.us/i/ufocrash.gif/) Title: Re: knock knock Post by: Sockratease on June 30, 2010, 05:51:59 PM Hello and welcome to the forums!
I look forward to seeing more of your work here. I never saw the program you mentioned, will have to have a look at it as time allows... Meanwhile, enjoy the forum O0 Title: Re: knock knock Post by: bib on June 30, 2010, 06:04:40 PM Welcome to another Mandelbulb 3D user! It's a good idea to save the animation preview as animated gif and post them on imageshack - for "proof of concept" purposes. I should do that more often.
Title: Re: knock knock Post by: cbuchner1 on June 30, 2010, 06:45:05 PM OMG it's an AnimGIF (ok, hosted some place else, phew!)
Youtube clips are generally more appropriate to use for videos as they can play in full HD glory ;) Title: Re: knock knock Post by: Oppenheimer_ on June 30, 2010, 07:39:13 PM thx alot for the warm welcome! :D
@Sockratease: Tacitus uses 100% of the gpu.. therefore it's pretty fast. Check it out if you got time, in a few weeks there's gonna be an update with further enhancements. @bib: yeah M3D really rocks, it's really fun to discover the fractal galaxy with it. Especially the boxes are neat. @cbuchner1: sure it's an animated gif. i could have posted an animated png, but that would have been too huge to post i guess (like 10 times or so) :gum: plus it's just a preview, if i render something in HD i'll make sure before, that it doesn't look that ugly :P Title: Re: knock knock Post by: KRAFTWERK on July 01, 2010, 08:37:02 AM Hey Opp! Welcome to the forum, this is the place to B! /MANDELWERK ;) Title: Re: knock knock Post by: MarkJayBee on July 01, 2010, 01:33:15 PM Hi mr O, Welcome to FF! Think you'll like it here, they're all very nice, helpful people and only
very slightly strange! :dink: Title: Re: knock knock Post by: Nahee_Enterprises on July 07, 2010, 01:33:23 AM Hey it's me Oppenheimer :embarrass: I just wanted to say hi to you fractalists. Greetings, and Welcome to this particular Forum !!! :) I used to be a Graphic Designer several decades ago (seems like another lifetime now). Mandelbulb-3D is definitely the application everyone should try if they have any interest at all in fractals. Probably one of the best new programs currently available. And it is getting better all the time!!! |
