Title: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Buddhi on June 24, 2010, 05:57:03 PM It's my first big flight animation rendered using key-frames. With key-frames it's possible to control also camera angle and focus distance. I think it looks much more better than in last animations where camera was rotated according to travelling direction.

Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: blob on June 24, 2010, 08:48:23 PM Wow!
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Jesse on June 24, 2010, 09:29:07 PM fantastic work, Buddhi, video and software!
must have taken some time to render, but it is really worth it! Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: subblue on June 24, 2010, 10:32:09 PM Very impressive. The quality of your shading and lighting is superb. One of my favourite fractal videos to date :D
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: cbuchner1 on June 24, 2010, 10:50:24 PM Woohaa, try the vuvuzuela button on this one. Feels like going through a hornet's nest.
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: kram1032 on June 25, 2010, 10:46:44 AM Wow! That most be the best video so far :D
It was great! The pace was just right, not too fast, not too slow. The off-direction-looking made it feel more natural and let you focus on certain things while still traveling in an other direction (or made the feeling of looking at something and only then desciding to go there).... Now I wanna see it in full 3D :D xD Must have been quite a bit of work to set it up :) Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: gussetCrimp on June 25, 2010, 06:08:20 PM Absolutely fantastic and first-rate. The camera control, and the subtle rotating as you flew through, were extremely well-controlled and we got some really great and dramatic views. Well done!

Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: MarkJayBee on June 25, 2010, 08:56:34 PM Wow, I am just blown away Buddhi, that has to be one of the best mandelbox vids
I've seen to date! Very smooth, with time to savour the various 'locations', and make plans to visit and 'photograph' them! :dink: Mandelbulber is turning into an extremely classy app! :D Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Tglad on June 26, 2010, 02:24:51 AM The half from about 2:05 onwards is my favourite, it has a real movie quality to it. I think these later areas have lots of tree/shrub shapes among the girders if you land on them. At least, at scale -1.5 they do.
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: KRAFTWERK on June 28, 2010, 10:48:10 AM So beautiful I think I am going to cry O0
Great Buddhi!!! Thank you! :) Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: twinbee on July 01, 2010, 01:58:03 PM Spectacular stuff and perhaps the best/most film-like camera work I've seen yet (though I would've liked more zooms into the micro-details of the object like "The corner of the mandelbox." does from Youtube).
Did you use B-splines/NURBs for the curves of the camera rotation and path? Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: lycium on July 01, 2010, 02:36:11 PM excellent work! :o
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Buddhi on July 01, 2010, 03:44:35 PM Thank you for all very nice comments. I don't know what is specific in this animation but I'm glad that you like it. For all my animations on youtube I had 20 views/day/movie. This moove was watched 20000 times in one week period :D
Did you use B-splines/NURBs for the curves of the camera rotation and path? I used Catmull-Rom splines.Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: blob on July 01, 2010, 04:05:21 PM I don't know what is specific in this animation but I'm glad that you like it. To paraphrase twinbee: the best/most film-like camera work I've seen yet. I was expecting some Terry Gilliam extravaganza to follow that introduction. Seriously, didn't you receive any offer for work from Hollywood yet? O0 Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Hamilton on July 02, 2010, 11:02:49 AM This movie is just fantastic, Buddhi.
Would you mind sharing the .fract file with us (only that one) so we can have a look to your settings? Just asking... :embarrass: Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: teamfresh on July 04, 2010, 07:18:06 PM Buddi videos like this are the reason I love fractals. I think this new key framing option has opened up a lot of new possibilities and I cant wait to see the results.... ;D ;D ;D
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Tglad on July 05, 2010, 05:11:02 AM Quote his movie was watched 20000 times in one week period You can make that 40,000 views now! I think your video has officially 'gone viral' :) congratulations.(p.s. would be awesome to see one swinging through bushes, like http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1973 (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1973) or http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1974 (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1974), they're a quarter of the way along near the edge of the scale -1.5) Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: hobold on July 05, 2010, 05:47:35 PM I know nothing about hosting bittorrents, but if Buddhi were willing to distribute the "original" HD video, I would gladly seed it for a few months.
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: cKleinhuis on July 05, 2010, 06:34:01 PM just a remark from me:
if people like, they can link back to fractalforums.com from the video descriptions on youtube ... Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: teamfresh on July 05, 2010, 11:14:09 PM Good Idea Trifox. I have added the link to all my vids.... thats 17 youtube and 35 vimeo links

Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: cKleinhuis on July 06, 2010, 10:55:36 AM +1 trifox! ?!?!ß +2 now, but what the heck does it mean?!Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: bib on July 06, 2010, 11:19:57 AM I think it means what you asked for : mention fractalforums in the video descriptions. I did that for my latest vids and the most successful ones. As I get in average 400 hits a day, hopefully it will generate a little bit more traffic here :)
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: KRAFTWERK on July 06, 2010, 11:38:34 AM +1 trifox! ?!?!ß +2 now, but what the heck does it mean?!I just meant I also think it is a good idea and will do so... I can't figure out how you got it all hollow and lacy inside like tha.
Title: Re: Mandelbox trip with new camera control Post by: Buddhi on December 11, 2010, 09:31:03 AM I will give you only basic parameters (but enough) Fractal: formula Mandelbox mandelbox_scale -1.73; mandelbox_folding_limit 1; mandelbox_folding_value 2; mandelbox_folding_min_radius 0.5; mandelbox_folding_fixed_radius 1; Camera: view_point_x 1.535565186216134; view_point_y -1.525544797861816; view_point_z -1.565398754655464; angle_alfa 30; angle_beta 40; zoom 0.0001; perspective 1.2; Camera will be located in place where you find structures like on animation |
