Title: Mandelbulber 0.80
Post by: Buddhi on June 19, 2010, 03:48:30 PM
I have just released new version 0.80 of Mandelbulber program for Linux and Windows.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/

Changes since last version:
- added colour palette view
- added offset slider for colour palette (real time image update)
- added "Random palette" button for creating random palette (real time image update)
- added edit field for key-frame files in "Select file paths" window
- added "intensity" parameter for each IFS symmetry vector. 0.0 -> no reflection, 1.0 -> normal reflection
- added file choosers for all file paths in "Select file paths" window
- added xenodreambuie's fractal formula (http://www.fractalforums.com/3d-fractal-generation/true-3d-mandlebrot-type-fractal/msg8246/#msg8246)
- more accurate calculation of new view-point position after "zoom by click"
- improved colouring method for Tglad's formula (Mandelbox)
- auto-saving of images now is disabled by default - can be activaded using "Auto-save" checkbox on "Image" tab
- removed limitations for size of env-map texture and light-map textures (was 512x512)
- all parameters for IFS symmetry vectors can be also animated using key-frames
- fixed bug: exp10(x) function was implemented as pow(x,10) - should be pow(10,x) - wrong calculation of fog distance and depth of field focus

Please remember about running install.bat script before first program run

Buddhi - i think i love you!

do you have any tips on using the keyframes option?

It is easy to use. Procedure is following:
- set fractal parameters and camera position
- press "Record key-frame" button
- change some fractal parameters or camera position
- press again "Record keyframe"
- etc....etc....
- when you recorded all needed key-frames, you can set number of frames per key-frame (on "Animation tab") and frame range
- press "Render form key-frames" button to start rendering of animation. Be sure that folder for images is empty. When there are some files in image folder, rendering of animation will be continued from last image number
- if you need to correct some key-frame, you can use "Previous key-frame (load)" button or "Next key-frame (load)" to load key-frame settings, correct parameters, and press "Record key-frame". You can also load and save key-frame using "Load settings" or "Save settings". All key-frames are stored in files located in (by default) .mandelbulber/keyframes/keyframeXXXXX.fract

Great upgrade!
There is a little bug: In the rendering window, the program crashes when dowing a mouse click outside the rendered image.
