my name is James, from Canada. I have recently began doing fractal animations (strictly UF5 :) ). and I have been capturing fractals for the best part of two years now.
I have been posting incomplete and nearly complete works on facebook, but the copyright and privacy stuff seems a little sketchy to mee. as well as deviant art. I was thinking on starting my own website and buying a new domain. Any one else have similar experiences in the matterÉ Im sure u do. I am really looking forward to sharing my art with the site and someday, the world! :)

I can tell you that copyright stuff is difficult to enforce online.  If somebody wants to steal your stuff, they will.

Fortunately, fractal art rarely get stolen, but I have seen it happen.  I wouldn't worry about it too much - it's usually pretty easy to get pirated copies taken down. 

I only have experience getting videos of other sites I work for taken down, but I never had any problems getting results (I have a few form letters written by lawyers that really help getting quick action  O0 ).

I look forward to seeing your work whenever you figure out the way you feel most comfortable posting it  :D

As Sockratease already stated, if you are worried about theft of your images, then do not put any full size works on the Internet.  But then again, with several million fractal images already available online, the chance of theft will be almost nil.

If you are wanting to establish something so that you can sell your images, then may I suggest you read the following blog entry, along with the comments that follow:

But if you just want to have a gallery to show off your works, then any online forum will suffice, and the free ones will save you the cost of a Domain Name and web hosting fees.  Otherwise, there are ways to create your own for very little money these days.
 

thanks for the link. it basically confirmed all that I found for myself in the time between my first & second post ( most of the summer). Comming from deviant art where all the very devoted UF artists dont allow full view and go on and on about art theft & buy this and that made me think there was some kind of 'danger'. I have sinced moved toward animations as they are more popular and can be done to musik. I still do images and am getting my own zazzle store not to rely on the income but more as a kind of success measure. its still a hobby, but to make even a couple dolars off of only one sale would mean a lot to me.

I make sure any images I use in my art are public domain. I wish everyone was that respectful to artists like you.

For 99.9 percent of all those getting into fractals, it will always be a hobby.  But that occasional sale does make it nice in these difficult economic times.    :)
