I'm Carl McIntyre, nice to meet you :) I'd like to thank everybody who has contributed to the field, be it software, formulae or images, as I have found them pretty inspiring, and has led me to make a few myself :) Though I'm a computer scientist by training, art has been a hobby for a while, and it seems that fractal artwork sits directly between my two loves :) It continues to amaze me what sort of abstract imagery can be found in fractals. I may not contribute much in the way of programming or maths (though I will if I can) as my main interest here is the potential for art, and so far its been a voyage of discovery in other peoples formulae. However it seems pretty important to have a good appreciation for how and why the formulae produce certain shapes as its the only route I can see towards the skills needed to compose an image in this medium (I'm aware of the huge vat of worms that sentence sits in, and from it you can probably guess my position :D ) Software-wise I'll use anything I can get my hands on, including hacking about some of the open-source contributions people have made here :) When I have more time, I'm hoping to have a play with lex/yacc and CUDA.. if I can come up with a formula compiler that offloads the number crunching onto a graphics card... woohoo.
