Do not like having to use one of the video web sites, since they jack with the image so much (YouTube seems to be the worst). So I gave Vimeo a try with this one.
Kind of a cross between Stanley Kubrick's movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" with the rotating space station, and the old Star Trek episode "The Doomsday Machine" with the cone shaped planet eater. May attempt another version of it, but much longer and better quality. I know I definitely did not apply any after all the frames were rendered. I have never been a big fan of this technique, though I know many people have been talked into this belief system (it is almost a religion to some). I have always preferred the "raw" image as it comes straight from the fractal generator. No filters, no resizing or resampling, and definitely no layering. Besides, Vimeo and YouTube already do too much to the original videos as it is. :angry: I may just make an .AVI or .MPG file available for download, and just bypass those videos web sites. The "raw" image might get a better look of the "mathematic scientific" side of the object. To get rid of some noise with AA for me is just to make it smoother, not to "destroy" the image or make it less "real", I might be wrong... probably... O0 Compare with the RAW image of a Digital camera, you would not be happy if that was the final image from it, but with slight noise-reduction and some good RAW-development settings (done by the camera for JPEG:s) the result can be much better. On Vimeo, you can also download the original video, if you allow it. This is very nice. The main problem with default anti aliasing is the time consumption, i did some smoothing in virtual dub with the temporal blur filter in my latest video. This makes the video size also smaller. An idea for a little different smoothing i have is to create something like a roughness factor when calculating the normals, and to smooth the diffuse and specular lighting based on this factor. Should be good for the amzing box, where default aliasing did not work in certain situations... And during that time, Vimeo says it has been "played" over 20,600 times, but it has only 5,081 views on YouTube. Not sure what the significance of that is, but I do find the difference quite interesting. But this was when Mandelbulb-3D was in its infancy, and it has come a long way during the development of the application!!! :) Maybe I will see about creating something new if time permits. And definitely a better production than this original test I did so long ago. |
