Title: New user - new fractal: Mandelhog
Post by: Vladimir Beliavski on April 01, 2010, 04:03:47 PM
Hello,

I've tried something new based on the Mandelbulb geometry - with amazing results (see attachments). Comments are welcome!

so, hello and welcome to the forums, nice rainbow renderings :D
it looks like you are using some kind of radiolaria multiplication in your formula, tell us about it!

Greetings, and Welcome to this particular Forum !!!   :)

What fractal software are you using??
And you would not happen to be the same Senior Software Architect, Consultant at Centurion GmbH??

Hello and Welcome!

Interesting renders.  Thanks for sharing  :)

Very nice! I like how the detail's so close to the surface, almost like it's embossed.

Thanks, the coloring was a lucky accident to find such a rainbowy random seed :)
Oh, did I miss something important in my math classes? What is "radiolaria multiplication"?

The software is "Mandelbulber" found on sf.net
And, yes, that's me. How comes you know me?

oh, its a technique used by subblue, he ist multiplicating the x value of the triplex in the iteration loop, and gets a radiolaria effect...

ok, got it, but no, I'm changing the effect of the space coordinate itself on the result. There are several ways to do it, making the results more or less "curly". In the images above the structure is almost "solid" with embossed substructures, if you look at the cut (attachment), you'll see it is not curly at all, although, as always you can zoom to infinity seeing the same level of detail.

Here are some of my earlier experiments with other formulas of the same kind - the same power ( 8 ) with even less curliness.

For those who became curious: the other direction - less substance, more curliness.

I like the way your latest images came out!!!    :D
This particular one reminds me of some special candy that is available at a seasonal time of the year.   :dink:
