I have an issue of New Scientist from last year that specifically mentions Fractalforums.com when discussing the mandelbulb!  It was just a one page article, but still...

Not sure if you knew about it.  I'll go dig it out and post the issue it came from.

Of course they have permission from me. The asked me to produce this image in higher resolution and with little different view. I prepared for them special version of this image. It took 30 hours to render this because for rendering sliced Mandelbulb there is needed very high maximum number of iterations (around 150)

I don't think this issue will be on the newsstands before monday. Only subscribers may get it a few days earlier.

The magazine is finally on sale from today on. This time they have really done the Mandelbulb justice. The "history" of the discovery is there, along with a detailed explanation of the construction.

I guess we can expect a bunch of new explorers to dedicate their mental and computational resources to the quest for the holy grail. :)

I forgot to mention, an article about the Mandelbulb was published in the French magazine Science & Vie (Science & Life) in February.

My french is only just good enough to state with some confidence that those two authors did not plagiarize each other. :) There does not seem to be a detailed guide to the construction of the formula in the French article, no?

No. This newspaper is very basic.

...on the other hand, they used that same zoom sequence for the Mandelbrot which is on Wikipedia, YouTube, etc... I'm glad about the publicity though!  :dink:
