Title: hello Post by: kaini on March 26, 2010, 04:16:09 AM hello fractalforums.
long-time messer-about with fractals, but the recent box/bulb stuff has stirred me out of retirement (as i suspect with many people) i guess the best way to say hello is with some renders: (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/orange.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/escher2.jpg) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/borginterior.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/borgexterior.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/docking.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/clsncounter.png) Title: Re: hello Post by: reesej2 on March 26, 2010, 04:57:13 AM Excellent images. Mostly Mandelbox, am I right? #2 looks like scale = 3, but I can't say I recognize #1.
Title: Re: hello Post by: Timeroot on March 26, 2010, 05:17:43 AM Wow, stunning renders! More than just messing-about, it seems. #1 is unusual in the face that there are "triplets" of spherical holes, in lieu of the regular quadruplet (like the one right next to it). #2 seems to be a bulb/box hybrid of some sort... all very nice!! A hearty welcome to you! O0
Title: Re: hello Post by: kaini on March 26, 2010, 06:26:28 AM all mandelbox, and mostly negative powers. i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wish i could remember the params for no.2, but you know the way it is... render; tweak; render; tweak unto infinity.
save your params, kids :) here's a nice zoom seq: (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/quantumdice.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/quantumdice2.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/quantumdice4.png) (http://humphreyplugg.kaen.org/images/quantumdice5.png) Title: Re: hello Post by: Tglad on March 27, 2010, 01:30:20 AM Hi Kaini, great first pics and have fun exploring these unusual shapes.
I noticed many of your pics are clipping the near plane (the pressed up against a window look), if you're using ultrafractal then here are tips on getting close up http://www.fractalforums.com/3d-fractal-generation/amazing-fractal/msg12754/#msg12754 (http://www.fractalforums.com/3d-fractal-generation/amazing-fractal/msg12754/#msg12754) Title: Re: hello Post by: kaini on March 28, 2010, 12:07:58 AM thanks, tglad - and thanks for all the amazing work you've done with the mandelbox formula, too.
i'm using mandelbulb3d at present - i could switch to ultrafractal, possibly in time. with mandelbulb3d, careful manipulation of the z-slice parameters should help me avoid this, correct? i quite like the effect in the second picture though, gives it more of that m.c. escher feel :) Title: Re: hello Post by: cKleinhuis on March 28, 2010, 09:57:43 AM awesome renders, hello and welcome to the forums also ;)
Title: Re: hello Post by: Nahee_Enterprises on March 30, 2010, 04:07:33 PM hello fractalforums. long-time messer-about with fractals, but the recent box/bulb stuff has stirred me out of retirement (as i suspect with many people) Greetings, and Welcome to this particular Forum !!! :) Nice images !! i'm using mandelbulb3d at present - i could switch to ultrafractal, possibly in time. Really no need to switch, unless you just wish to use it as shareware. There are so many FREE applications that are available, and some that are much cheaper but will do things that UF can not, such as create real 3-D objects for exporting to other rendering programs. Title: Re: hello Post by: kaini on April 01, 2010, 10:45:30 PM i mean i have a full version of ultrafractal as for free programs - i started on fractint 7.something on a 386sx. so many fond memories <3 |
