Title: P 8 bulb inside a P 2 bulb. probably not... Post by: KRAFTWERK on March 03, 2010, 12:31:26 PM This is scary... but probably some rendering-artifact.
I had help from David Makin to try to get the original -sin version bulb. I did an image of a Pow2 with Davids changes, zoomed in on a nice area in the top right corner, AND is that a soft power 8 bulb inside that whipped cream? ;) (detail in low right corner) I wish.... Post by: bib on March 03, 2010, 01:22:31 PM Looks weird. You should decrease solid threshold to see if it's not simply a 2nd order minibulb hidden in the bubble. See for example this image:
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1150 If it was not cut in half, it would probably look pretty much like your bulb. ...could that be the "Epsilon scale" I will look into this more, but I need some help to know what to do to see what really is hiding there. I do not think it is a 8th power bulb, that would be impossible I guess, just thought it was fun... ...and a nice image... ;) BTW, impressing precision you’ve got in that image bib! I have trouble even getting as close as i did in my image... Title: Re: Found a power 8 bulb inside a power 2 bulb???? Post by: cKleinhuis on March 03, 2010, 09:26:06 PM it is epsiolon scale ;)

Trifox: Do you mean that I spelt it wrong or "Yes that is the parameter to change"? Or both? O0 Johan Title: Re: P 8 bulb inside a P 2 bulb. probably not... Post by: KRAFTWERK on March 05, 2010, 12:28:26 PM Well, I thought it was an interesting, "chaotic" region, so I tried out different iterations.
Strange thing is: @ uneven iterations the "minibrot" appears solid, and @ even it gets hollow and "dusty". Here is a gifanimation of 6-32 iterations. Post by: kram1032 on March 06, 2010, 12:09:16 AM are you sure it's always even vs odd?
At later iterations it rather seems to cycle through three states. Very interesting :) - A smoot iteration of this region would be interesting too :) Title: Re: P 8 bulb inside a P 2 bulb. probably not... Post by: Jesse on March 06, 2010, 12:26:26 AM I am really shure that it is a power 2 minibulb, it looks like if its on an arm of the classic 2D mandelset, so it must be...
However, that are nice regions, i took a similar shot from a power 3 Minibulb: (http://www.fractalforums.com/gallery/3/1127_09_10_10_12_49_29.jpeg) Tried to get some details from the minibulb by giving a very low stop threshold, but didnt succeed (maybe the cosinus version would be a better choice). Title: Re: P 8 bulb inside a P 2 bulb. probably not... Post by: kram1032 on March 06, 2010, 09:51:00 AM they look great :D
I really wonder if there is any better way to show them... In 2D you saw inside, outside and surface at the same time without any problems but in 3D, where it's hard to look around things, a lot of things get covered by higher iterations but eventually those new layers show new details... It's a very interesting area though :D Title: Re: P 8 bulb inside a P 2 bulb. probably not... Post by: bib on March 06, 2010, 08:32:32 PM Brilliant work for this minibulb picture :)
