Title: The Broken Fractal - Fractional Power Mandelbrot (n=2.5)
Post by: saka on December 16, 2017, 02:06:06 AM
The Mandelbrot formula is adjusted to have a fractional exponent of n=2.5. The result is a broken fractal, resembling smashed glass.  Using fractional powers introduces fault lines throughout the fractal.  It makes for very interesting viewing, but the simple beauty that you find with integers power has gone.  In fact, it’s questionable whether it is even appropriate to consider this a type of Mandelbrot fractal.  Enjoy!

z = z^2.5 +c

A simple and close-up look at this unusual fractal.  (Available in 4k @60fps)

Enjoy!
