Title: Bounding Sphere Post by: Kyzia on September 20, 2017, 12:47:44 PM I've been playing around with the bounding box feature in the Rendering Engine tab, and achieved what I think are some decent results (like in this example (http://www.fractalforums.com/feature-requests/allow-primitives-to-be-unaffected-by-render-limits/)), and it occurred to me that there could be some potential in having the option to set a spherical rather than cubic bound.
I hope this request is sufficiently self-explanatory, and I also understand that there's a very long list of other stuff to be done. :) Title: Re: Bounding Sphere Post by: mclarekin on September 22, 2017, 08:43:21 AM thanks, I understand the request and will add it to the list :)
Title: Re: Bounding Sphere Post by: joe on September 27, 2017, 04:28:35 AM You can use boolean AND function, with your fractal of choice and a mandelbulb julia with coordinates 0,0,0
Then your fractal is bounded by a perfect sphere which you can scale and move. Title: Re: Bounding Sphere Post by: Kyzia on September 27, 2017, 02:12:51 PM Thanks joe - I'll give that a try and see how I get on. ^-^
Title: Re: Bounding Sphere Post by: Kyzia on September 27, 2017, 05:29:17 PM So... it took a few iterations of "Why isn't it working?", and "This does nothing" before I realized that Boolean operations aren't implemented in OpenCL yet. After that, it was straightforward enough. Here's the output of my initial trials; (https://i.imgur.com/x0Ggi5y.jpg) |
