I recently added a new twist to my application.

For a long time now, FractalWorks could create a custom URL that encodes all the settings required to recreate the plot.

Now, though, when you save a JPEG or TIFF image, the program embeds the custom URL in the metadata for the image. You can then use an EXIF viewer to extract the plot URL, or use a "Open Fractal from JPEG or TIFF" menu command to open an image file, extract the URL from the metadata, and render the plot.

I run a small forum on Flickr for FractalWorks users. We frequently share URLS for plots, but unfortunately Flickr does not understand custom URL schemes, so the links get mangled from the custom scheme "fractalworks://" to "http://" The URL in the metadata remains intact however.
