Title: Amazing fractal orderings... Post by: Timeroot on February 21, 2010, 08:35:10 PM I was just wondering if anyone had tried the formula for the Amazing fractal with different orders of transformations. Right now it goes: Fold->Invert->Scale->Add. By rearranging these there would be 24 different options. Most of these produce the same results by a coordinate transform or by changing variables like scale, xfold/yfold/zfold, fixedRadius, and minRadius. But something like Invert->Fold->Scale->Add should produce something different. Has anyone tried this?

I tried your idea (all use 10 iterations and scale=2). Click for full size: Title: Re: Amazing fractal orderings... Post by: David Makin on February 21, 2010, 10:57:41 PM Am working on a more generalised "location controlled" formula - I actually like to call these "Location Restricted IFS" - the method essentially goes back to Barnsley's location-conditional based escape-time formulas as included in Fractint. |
