This area is the top of the central 'sphere'. Looking forward to exploring outer realms, one day, but, looking further inward (pitching camera down) is interesting enough for now. Even assuming RGB channels are set equally (which may or may not be under one's own control), there's the matter of brightness/contrast balance. My previous monitor had a few preset options, and that was was it. Not happy, so I forked out for a new one with control over RGB channels. Now it looks like too much black on this series, despite my previous best efforts to get a good brightness/contrast balance. My new monitor (Dell, the 'old' was Benq) has it's own b/c controls. A bit clunky compared to display adaptor controls for Intel HD 4400 (which includes Gamma), but a combination of the two seems best. The attached image is what I have used to check brightnes/contrast/gamma balance. The 10% changes aren't much use, and I'm not perfectly happy with the difference between white and 2 or 5% grey but it's pretty closely balanced with the difference between black and 98 and 95% grey. Besides, comparing, for example, 5% with 4 and 6% I can see 1% difference. Not too bad.. |
