Title: Alien II

A Matchmaker II Mandelbrot slice with b in a period-3 bud. This is fairly typical of in-bud Mandelbrots: the fractal is divided into two regions, one in this case resembling the content of triple spiral valley and one resembling an inverted M-set with the "outside" basin broken up into domains. There is also a small S-shaped region of black points near the boundary between the two: no stable attractors exist for these parameter values.

These types of Matchmaker II fractal tend to compute slowly, being plagued by high iterations. Fortunately they rarely require aggressive antialiasing.

Great picture! Full of various areas worth zooming in.
In the left side of the S-shape, 2 buds from the opposite sides seem to touch each other. I would love to see a zoom on that area.

Thanks. That's doable, though it might be a week before I get around to it.
