Title: Image compression
Post by: jehovajah on February 17, 2010, 04:27:00 AM
With the upcoming ipad and the long suffering tablet pc it is now time i feel to come up with some scheme for saving handwriting to file. At the minute i believe and will explore the partial iterated function system is the best way forward. It seems to work extremely well for pictures and as most handwriting seems to be saved on a sketch pad style programme it seems feasible that the scheme could be applied to files saving an image of handwriting.

I need to do a survey of existing hand writing packages and go from there. Anybody got any links?

I would believe vector graphics might be best for handwriting?

Thanks. :angel1: Any reason why? And do you have a good link to that vis a vis compression, In the back of my mind is the thought of all those spy satellites that use fractal compression of data, how they fare in compressing handwriting they spy on! I might check on what Barnsley is doing in this area too.
