Title: Secrets (bug/feature) of Monte Carlo render Post by: Alef on June 12, 2017, 01:50:35 PM First I rendered fractal in normal way - 1st result.
Then I wanted to render very good picture. So I went to tools and Monte Carlo renderer and put it for night to render. (I din't looked at the tutorials and without internet.) Well, it completely changed the colour/light settings. 2-nd result. I don't liked the result. So I send parameter to main -> nothing happens in main screen until unflag - flag Blend dFog. But then it looks different, 3-rd result. Then I rerendered the fractal with usual raytracing. It took a lot more time with Ambient Shadow becoming slow as main render. 4-th result. But it was worth it. ================================================================================================= If you just import to M.C. and then send parameter to main without rendering, it changes a lots of settings. If you have loaded some background image you no longer are able to change Ambient colour and now it seems to use light like the enviroment. I guess its now like fog mixed with background image. Without background image this woun't happen. Jet M.C. changes settings to more good quality ones like slow DEAO with 33 rays. What is this? There could be some hidden settings M.C. changes. For formulas there is hidden variable .DEScale. If default .DEScale = 1 don't renders solid picture then .DEScale = 0.5 solidiefies the fractal. But maybe it loads some secret ligh model from the M.C. with light according to the background picture and enviroment? Not shure is this a bug or the feature. I liked the effect so I used this on all of my contest fractals. I couldn't simulate the effect by changeing ambient colours. On save - close - load everything turns back to the normal. So I did lot of "import to M.C. and send to main". I would'n notice if this would not happen with my contest fractals. One of them in large part depends on it as then it makes nicer tone. ========================================================== Look at Mandelbulb. With red beckground it is more red. This competition picture is based on this feature. Its background is white and the fog are blue green. It after MC turned fractal bluegreen just like the enviroment.
