Title: Tricorn
Post by: Kalter Rauch on June 12, 2017, 04:42:05 AM
CW from top...Tricorn/Bumblebrot, mapped to cylinder,
fisheye view, and mapped to sphere...

Wow. Its realy cool. (pst. its my formulas) I realy didn't know that one can do with them this. And with gimp, too;)

I'm using Joukowski transformation  in ChaosPro and a fisheye filter in GIMP.
From reading, the Joukowski transform is used in aerodynamics to generate airfoils with a circle deformed
into an elongated paisley cross-section of a wing, and it has similar effects in your formula.
The fisheye filter twists symmetry to change the pose of a figure
as well as morphing mirrored features.

The right hand figure uses a Gilgamesh head
but the body is a Tricorn as are the others.

OK...when I said it was a Gilghead
I meant that I cut the head in half
and then duplicated the best half, flipped it,
and joined the mirror halves
into a better object.

The background is from a 4th power Nylander Mandelbulb
and it and the figures were treated with an "HSV Noise" filter
and then a bumpmap which really brought out fine texture...

Whereas HSV noise only uses those color values
there is also a "Perlin Noise3" process which instead
returns vector information that can make a smooth sphere
look like a wad of gum.
GIMP doesn't seem to have it......

Note...the Perlin3 vector driven noise formula mentioned above
is in ChaosPro as "Perlin FBM Displacement ".
FBM is "Fractal Brownian Motion".
It also extremely distorts Mandel/Juliabulbs which I experimented with today.
