it's May and time for the Annual Fractal Art Competition 2017. Any news when it will start?

You're not the only one wondering!

Christian devised the categories and said he wanted to make the announcement, but then he vanished   :sad1:

He did make the categories and they are visible on the home page with all the previous years contests, but no announcement and none of us wanted to steal his thunder by making the announcement ourselves!

He usually disables the "star" ratings for the duration to avoid letting them influence other's decisions in the votes.  But they are still there.

So I guess the answer is  ...  Nobody knows!

Feel free to peek at the categories and get a head start if you like.  They may seem a bit ambiguous, but it's a sort of an "End Of An Era" event since after it's over we plan to open the new version of Fractal Forums!

So make of it what you will.

We were hoping Christian would have posted before somebody noticed, but now that you posted, I guess it's better to tell you what we know rather than ignore the question O0

Was expected not to begin the compo if FRACTALFORUMS encountered trouble with the error "Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later." whick occurs ocassionaly due the soft is too weak for the big traffic or maybe the servers of FRACTALFORUMS would be attacked.
If I would be admin , I would don't start an developing any competition until fix this bug and find a way to upgrade whole FRACTALFORUMS program  without to clear the history and neither posts.

So thank you to ask and reported this adjournment and delay.

Honestly - we have told you, and everyone, what causes those errors yet you persist to pretend that you know that it is something else!

You are either too stubborn to accept our explanations or the language barrier between us prevents you from understanding.

Thanks for your concern, but it is still misplaced.

Things are running as smoothly as they ever will for this particular forum.

The new one will fix these problems and it opens after the contest, so if you get connection errors often, enter early.  We always allow minor extensions of the deadlines, they have always been dates, not specific minutes, so unless you plan on pushing it to the last second you will be fine.
