Title: Fractal Dust Post by: cye on April 23, 2017, 01:22:26 AM I've come across spirals that evolve from iterative processes, much like the Mandelbrot & Julia sets. We consider the set where a and b are arbitrary complex numbers. Now, this is just a vector, and if you plotted it, it would just be a tangle of crossing lines. In order to bring the pattern out of the chaos you have plot it as points. That's why I've given it the moniker fractal dust. It the eye that's creating the structures you are seeing in the image below, not the generating equation per se. This image was creating by choosing random a and b until I saw one I particularly liked. Ref:Philip J. Davis, (1993) Sprials: From Theodorus to Chaos, A.K. Peters. (http://) |
