Title: Mandelbrot zoomer with ability to save images & parameters
Post by: KReeser on March 31, 2017, 04:05:16 AM
I love Xaos for its simplicity and automatic zoom capability while simply holding down the left mouse button.  I mean really, it's an automatic head-trip and even I can produce some decent looking art by doing this simple task.  I just despise the rendering process, it is clunky and not at all clear and concise.  You have to go into the drop-down for Misc, Render animation and fill in a bunch of items that don't make sense.  I am looking for very high res images that can be printed poster size.  I am also one for broadening my horizons and I do not like to rely solely on one program in particular.

Most of the programs I have encountered involve selecting an area of interest by drawing a rectangle, holding down a key and pressing the left mouse button.  Are there other programs out there like Xaos but with deeper zoom levels?  After a while it just gets funky and the picture turns to mush.

I enjoy toying with the online CGI Mandelbrot Fractal explorer but you can't save parameters for future musing.  Also, I just found a site today, fractalposter.com complete with its own generator but I am unable to use it.  I have the latest version of Java installed on my computer but I keep getting the message about this is an unsafe site, blocked by Java.  And then there is Mandelbrot Viewer by David Eck which is another amusing fractal application.

Thank you so much for those of you who can offer some advice.

what youhn said.
but zooming is not with leftclick but the mousewheel. And it's still kind of step-by step, not really a smooth zoom.
feels good to work with though. and incredibly deep/fast.

Thank you both for the suggestion.  I actually downloaded Fraktaler a few weeks ago and was a little put off by its complexity of layout and all the palette choices.  I have looked for a beginner's guide tutorial but all I can find is a video on how to make a movie.  In addition, all the videos on Youtube are zooms into the MB set.  I just have to stick with it and try to learn the basics.  All software applications are different.
I'll be back at a later date with questions.  I can't wait to journey into depths unknown.

thanks much!

You can try https://sourceforge.net/projects/fractalzoomer/?source=directory
Its not as fast nor can zoom deep (Java Based), but it provides alot of parameterization.

If you want to explore the mandelbrot set, kalesfraktaler and mandel machine are the best choices.
