Title: Necroposting Post by: Kalter Rauch on January 10, 2017, 12:09:09 AM I was admonished for "necroposting" soon after joining.
Since I use ChaosPro the threads I look at are mostly long-dormant anyway I don't know what else to do except post in the ChaosPro gallery. It's not like I have an obsession with cuneiform writing or other obsolete methods... :educated: Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: TheRedshiftRider on January 10, 2017, 07:05:45 AM As far as I know there are no rules against necroposting. As long as what you post is relevant for the topic.
There is a warning message that appears if nothing has been posted on a topic for more than 90 (I think) days. They have been implemented but they do not represent the rules that are made here on the forums. To be honest I have always ignored it after hearing there are no rules that prohibit it. :P Posting new topics in a section is always a good and should not be affected by those rules if they are there. If you really feel like you want to post your images in a different section I would suggest the "rate my fractal" section. But as I said, it is not required. Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: DarkBeam on January 10, 2017, 09:00:40 AM I necropost almost all the times
:embarrass: Do not worry Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Chillheimer on January 10, 2017, 09:14:23 AM hehe, learned a new word today. :)
I second redshiftrider. Imho it's better to revive an old thread with relevant information or questions than to have these spread out over many threads. As said by all the others, Dredge up all the old topics you like if you have something to add! I'm sorry somebody incorrectly admonished you for doing so. Hopefully they know better than to do that sort of thing now. Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Kalter Rauch on January 26, 2017, 03:19:44 AM Thanx for clearing that up.
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: TedWalther on April 15, 2017, 02:58:40 AM I made an account here back in 2009 and made some posts, but when I tried to log in, my account had disappeared. Wierd! Wonder if my old posts have disappeared too.
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Sockratease on April 15, 2017, 09:30:12 AM I made an account here back in 2009 and made some posts, but when I tried to log in, my account had disappeared. Wierd! Wonder if my old posts have disappeared too. At one point our Fearless Leader went through and intended to purge inactive accounts to make database space. Instead of setting it to choose accounts with zero posts and not logged in for however many years he decided was a good cut-off point, he forgot the bit about zero posts and just used the not logged in for "x" years. A few real members got caught up in that :hurt: Apologies. The posts should still be here, but may be attributed to "Guest" and not the name used to create them. The site has had a few database and other issues over the years, and we are working on a brand new version which may become FractalForums Mark II - we'll all have to register new accounts at that point and this site will become a "read only" archive. So Welcome Back O0 And please accept our apologies for our Admin's error when deleting what he mistakenly thought to be inactive accounts. Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 02, 2017, 02:42:04 AM Just to be clear, I thought necroposting was a weird sexual thing, and now that the forum is going to be an archive, away from prying eyes for all eternity, I feel like it's totally safe to mention that.

You may be confusing it with necroplooking. A common mistake among Frank Zappa fans O0 Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 04, 2017, 09:15:43 PM I can't find a related quote!!!
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Chillheimer on September 04, 2017, 09:17:37 PM You may be confusing it with necroplooking. definitely NOT going to google that one... :alien: :hurt: Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 05, 2017, 05:46:48 PM I tried, and didn't get anything. Maybe the Google AI is protecting me.
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Sockratease on September 05, 2017, 08:25:50 PM It's a paraphrasing of a phrase from Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa.
They had a mechanical sex toy called a Rotoplooker. Joe broke it by plooking too hard. I just changed Rotoplook to Necroplook because I thought everyone would get it O0 See my entry in the last contest called The Central Scrutinizer (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=20339) for another Joe's Garage tribute. I didn't expect so many people to wonder what it was, so I explained it. I don't know if I should have stayed quiet or not... Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 05, 2017, 10:07:06 PM lol... awesome. : D
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Sockratease on September 05, 2017, 10:23:03 PM lol... awesome. : D I suppose I should mention that the Rotoplooker came from L. Ron Hoover at The First Church of Appliantology. They worshiped and loved (even married) kitchen appliances. You kids today really need to listen to more Frank Zappa!! O0 Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 06, 2017, 11:03:38 PM I need to finish my Zappa code...
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Sockratease on September 07, 2017, 05:31:04 PM I need to finish my Zappa code... I am intrigued! Can't wait to see what that looks like O0 Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: Gregoryno6 on September 17, 2017, 08:28:03 AM Necroposting and Appliantology! Two new words in one day. :joy: :joy: :joy:
Title: Re: Necroposting Post by: M Benesi on September 30, 2017, 08:10:48 PM lol... Ohh, the Zappa code was to create the "fractal spraygun", but I'm using a more archaic GPU at this point, so I can't even begin to do the stuff that I'd want to do. modified to wonder aloud, did Firefly have hidden Zappa references? |
