Title: Spam Accounts
Post by: cKleinhuis on January 27, 2010, 01:25:22 PM
i just wanted to inform all, that due to too much spamming user accounts ( even with the google maniac reCaptcha )
i have to change registration, it will now be that users will need to get "activated" by any of the admins,

a little check list for granting users access:

1. No Advertisement URLS in Signatures, Websites
2. No Cloacking URLS ( showing another url than actually leading to )
3. No Sexual Content

i will set the users to activate, i will try to make it this way that all admins get notifications about new users. and i really
hope to get rid of 80% spamming accounts

Ironically you have a URL in your signature yourself.

And no, I do not think you are spamming. :tease2:

that url is not cloaked, and it is a private site, so, not a shop selling viagra pills :D

but btw, i should change my signature because the site is a little doomed ;)

    1.  No Advertisement URLS in Signatures, Websites

Most people have valid website links in their signatures.  It usually goes to their personal website.  It is only the recent spammers, the ones that have been joining since November which are now causing the problems.

I hope this does not mean that real members will not be subjected to modifications in their own signatures.

indeed , it is perfectly fine to include websites in the signatures, but as i said, no cloacked, nor shopping websites ...   O0
