Title: FractaleXtreme avi sizes?
Post by: Bibby on December 18, 2016, 10:55:30 AM
When I save zoom movies, as an uncompressed .avi, it saves the animation in about 80 separate avi files for just a 5 minute zoom.

I've tried using avidemux and virtualdub to string them together but apart from it taking forever, the programs crash and can't do it.

How can I save a decent quality 5 minute long zoom as a single movie file?

avi is an ancient, crappy, limited pile of poop and should not be used.  to make a video of decent quality that doesnt have ancient filesize limitations and such, use a modern container like mkv (and preferably use a modern codec as well like h264).  if the program you are using supports output to image files, use that and learn a way to encode them into a video.  if your program is limited to only avi output, its time to get a new program.

It'll save movies as split avi files, or as .png files. Maybe I need to look for a different 2d fractal movie rendering program.

output to png is the best  :D  next look into how to encode them to a video

Will do, thanks.

Edit: Just realised I can use the same process with vdub as I do with mandelbulber3d, stringing images together to make a movie.... d'oh!
