Title: Cutting along a plane/inside render
Post by: Sabine on November 29, 2016, 12:02:06 PM
In order to see if I can explore the Julia spine a bit in Fragmentarium, I need to cut the fractal open along the y-plane. Next step would be an 'inside' render. I have no clue if either of these are at all possible in Fragmentarium and if yes, how I should go about it. I don't even know if this could/should be arranged in the formula or in the raytracer...
Any tips/ideas would be most welcome! And if this is a really stupid question, please bear with me  ;D

Examples/Theory/Mandelbulb-Slicer.frag  uses  DE-Raytracer-Slicer.frag ;)

(http://st.deviantart.net/emoticons/f/faint.gif) I'm in shock and awe that it is possible!
Thank you, 3dickulus! :)

Just tested: Like a charm... Thanks again! :)

But now: the inside render... Any chance there?

I recall a thread (or portion of) that talks about rendering the "inside" ... but never bookmarked it or took note of which thread... search "inside bulb" ... mclarekin may know ;)

Nope, I have yet to look at how this is done :sad1:

Hmmm :suspious: It's been a feature of mb3d I think from the beginning, and I think I remember that even rather 'old' fractal generators could do it... But no idea now where to look.
But thank you gentlemen! :)

I did inside renderings in Fragmentarium during my MandelCup experiments.

The frag is in attached to the first post.
I that case, just returning -(DE) worked ok :embarrass:

@pupukuusikko: Thank you, but there is no .frag attached to Luca's formula-zip, only Mandelbulb3d-files?

Sorry, pasted a wrong link, corrected.

@Pupukuusikko Thank you, that looks marvellous!
