This is my first post here, since I'm quite new to fractals and really very new to mandelbulb 3D, though very fascinated already! For a school project I want to make 3D prints of a hollow dome, with a apollonian fractal cutting holes in the object. I have tried doing this in cinema 3D and the result took very long, and did not look very nice So, does anyone know a way to produce this in mandelbulb 3D? I have attached 2 pictures, the first of my lousy attempt, and the second of a picture I found which was close enough to my vision, though a bit more random would be better for my intents and purposes. He has various Apollonian fractals in his shapeways shop: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/3Dfractals There is a contact button at the top of the shapeways shop. Otherwise you also find him here, at YouTube and facebook. I think he can help you with the right formula + parameters and maybe with some tips on preparation for 3D printing.
