Title: Z-depth pass
Post by: JohnQForumPoster on September 02, 2016, 11:24:41 PM
Hey, this is my first post on fractalforums (long time lurker). I've been considering migrating from MB3D toward Mandelbulber so that I can keep with current technology going into the future. One thing that I have been trying to figure out, which is something I do with every MB3D render/animation, is if and/or where there's an option to save the zdepth pass as a greyscale image for use in external post processing. In MB3D, next to where you save the image, there's a button that says zbuff for still images, and there's a checkbox to automatically generate a zdepth image for each frame in animations.

Am I overlooking that option in Mandelbulber, or does it not have the option. If it doesn't, can that PLEASE be integrated (it's essential for post processing or compositing and I much prefer being able to do Depth of Field externally cause it's MUCH faster, non destructive, and more customizable).

Try,

go to

File -Program Settings - Image

Here you can enable saving zbuffer

But I have not used it yet. :)
