Title: Chromatic Jack -- 3DFAMV
Post by: paigan0 on August 16, 2016, 03:57:11 AM
Here's another 3D Fractal Animation Music Video (3DFAMV) called "Chromatic Jack," with a prog rock instrumental of the same name by myself and another Chapman Stick enthusiast (our project band SINKERR). I play Railboard bass, piano, and drums, and Scott Kerr plays all guitars. Created in #Mandelbulber v2, this is a "simple" yet gorgeous Mandelbox formula using 240 CPU cores for about a month, 7K of 1920X1080 frames, AO 5.

This would have taken my 2 MSI 980s about a day and a half, and I would probably have run it at ambient occlusion 8 rather than 5. I was using v2 just to keep the render farm working and I much prefer the animation of v2 to v 1.21, but since mclarekin has been feeding me ported over v2 formulas and also his and other's originals to guinea pig test some morphing videos, I have hardly touched v2 lately. I also had the texture byte error that stopped the render farm from working at full capacity, and then when it got fixed, I've stuck with v 1.21 lately.

The Chapman Stick is an awesome, amazing instrument and I've been playing it almost exactly a year (next week)! stickist.com is a pretty good forum, where I am still paigan0 and Steve Sink. Cheers!
