As per 8/11 post about Van Gogh...the 2nd image was from a painting I thought was the same as the 1st but must not be (eg. see signature and some detail differences). So, the 2nd image is from a Van Gogh Sunflower painting web image I opened in GIMP, then ran it through GIMP/G'Mic/Artistic/Dream Smoothing followed by Light & Shadow/Image Effects filters. Since posting that, I've been experimenting with the GIMP/Repair/Anisotropic Smoothing filter which allows much more control over what goes into the image effects filter than dream smoothing. Read this page on this filter...http://docgmic.tuxfamily.org/plugin_anisotropic_smoothing/ "The G'mic anisotropic smoothing is an implementation of the smoothing filter described in this [na]technical paper. Basically, the filter analyses the image to identify the structures and then smooth parallel to it , thus preserving the details."
