Title: Knighty Night with "D is 4 Drone" Post by: paigan0 on July 27, 2016, 12:21:34 AM Mclarekin optimized a "knighty" formula and ported it over for me load into the custom formulas of v.1.21 OpenCl. Here's the hi-ris version of what I'm calling Knighty Night with my original piano improvisation called "D is 4 Drone." The song was an exercise I made up to keep a D somewhere in each chord of this song, as a "drone" throughout. It's 100% made up and improvised on the spot, played on a MIDI piano and I just edited some note velocity here and there to get an even sound. In this fractal world, I see two basic layers. There's the perfect spheres that are engulfed and connected by webbed concrete, and are the basic building blocks for the skeleton structure of the larger fractal. And then those spheres get blown apart into lily pads fragments connected together by one central strand of filaments, and look like a microscope view of yarn or fibers. On the pullout to see the whole larger structure, it looks like the Matrix Field of Humans and all of the birthing chambers. The end looks like a flapping bird (I hope). Of the formulas available to me in the OpenCl Mandelbulber (v 1.21, which this formula is of course not normally part of), this has been my all time favorite worlds to play in so far, outside of all the glorious Mandelboxes. It renders fricking fast too. 8600 frames rendered in under a day, and half of the time I was only using 1 PC and 1 of the 2 MSI 980 GPUs. It would've taken a couple of weeks at least on the render farm, even running 240 I7 cores on the weekends. mclarekin has more wonderful v2 formulas for me to make wonderful things on the GPU; I can't wait! (And if a OpenCL GPU V2 happens, I'd be so happy because the animation tools are so much better in v2!)
