Title: Apply EA on fractal art
Post by: John on January 09, 2010, 10:03:14 PM
Hi, this is related with my project.

Could anyone tell me how to apply the evolutionary algorithm on fractal art creator?
Thank you  ;)

The ElectricSheep does just that with Fractal Flames, because they're probably the easiest to mutate/recombine. People upload their fractals, and these enter the genepool. These animated fractals - including ones made genetically - are then displayed as a screensaver. People vote for the ones they like (or a negative vote if they dislike it), and the positive votes minus the negative votes gives each fractal a rating, which is used a fitness function.

If you want to do something yourself, I'm not sure if the genetic algorithm Spot Draves uses is free / open to the public, but you'll almost certainly want to use some type of Fractal Flame.

thanks for reply :D

I already develop a simple prototype system which just like others Julia and Mandelbrot creator generate the still image. The system will generate 8 Julia set image and the user allow to choose the parents image to generate new 8 generation. The process will repeat till user get the image that he wants.

Is EA applied in my system?

Do you know any journal about human play the roles as fitness function?

Thank you

hi there, i have implemented an evolutionary formula system in the program "mutatorkammer" it builds up trees of
nodes of complex functions ( e.g. add, square , sin ... ) and let you recombine .... search for it on
google, it is not developed further, but i am content with the possibilities ..
