I always find it fun to revisit old stories on their anniversary. I rather enjoyed this classic read from 1999:

I forgot when I first read that article, but I believed it for quite some time before realizing it was a hoax. Very well written I might add. :D

EDIT: It seems a bunch people got fooled too. This news article from 2007 for instance takes it at face value, questioning why this "discovery" had not been more publicized.
