Title: Mutigen save feature Post by: aroth84 on March 23, 2016, 05:03:24 PM I often get a number of interesting Mutigen variations and don't have time the explore them all. Could there be a way to save the Mutigen paramaters with thumbnails so that I could recall them for later use or in the event of a program crash/freeze?

Could there be a way to save the Mutigen paramaters with thumbnails so that I could recall them for later use or in the event of a program crash/freeze? Andy I've been meaning to suggest something similar to this for a long time now. But my idea goes even farther... In everybody's favorite fractal generator, Mutatorkammer, there is a "save workspace" feature. It saves every window and all it's settings at the time of save. It has a "breed window" which is strikingly similar to the Mutagen window (but it allowed multiple instances), plus a palette window, multiple windows for individual fractals (as many as the user wants limited only by their computer - each one with an animation timeline), and even a history window. All got saved with the save workspace function. It made xml files, so I'm not sure how you could possibly save an entire MB3D workspace or what format you'd use. But since the topic has arisen, I figured I'd add that idea if only to make aroth84's idea seem easy to do by comparison :embarrass: Title: Re: Mutigen save feature Post by: thargor6 on March 24, 2016, 12:56:00 AM Saving/loading is really a weak spot in MB3D because the file-format is just a memory-dump. We could base64-encode those dumps and wrap them into xml, but this would be just another hack. I think, we would need at first a clean file format at first.
