Title: Hello, I'm Xliff
Post by: Xliff on March 01, 2016, 09:44:42 AM
Hello all! I've been interested in fractals and fractal generation right around the time when the first version of Fractint was released. Then, like most things, I had to graduate and do the job thing, and my interest fell by the wayside. Now I am looking to get back into all things Fractal.

So, I have dusted off some of my fractal books and old posts, and wish to try my hand at making fractals, again, particularly 3D versions.

I've tried Fractal eXtreme and am amazed at how fast it is. In the time it took me to generate fractals back in the 90s, this program can do 60 frames at a much higher resolution! I'm sure there are other advances and would appreciate some help in finding them.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Thanks!

hello and welcome to the forums, if you think fractal extreme is fast try rendering a maginification of 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 with it :D it will fail completely, but  "kalles fraktaler" and  "mandelmachine" provide implementations of the recent pertubation algorithm to speed up mandelbrot calculation for ultra deep zooms extraordinary, have fun
