Title: A generic name for buddhabrot-like fractal ?
Post by: ker2x on December 30, 2009, 07:50:32 AM
I finally wrote/ripped some code that just work to render buddhabrot and anti-buddhabrut fractal.

I'm trying it with other kind of fractal (not just basic Z^2 +c), see : http://ker.endofinternet.net/img/ (http://ker.endofinternet.net/img/)
My problem is that i can't find a name for them...

The mandelbar version of the buddhabrot can't be a "Buddhabar" ... the name is fun, but there is no buddha in this mandelbar...
Any tought about a generic name for this kind of rendering ?

thank you.

the Mandelbar Version of the Buddhabrot was already named quite some time ago: "Spacelotus" - I can't remember the name of the person who coined this but I think it's quite fitting, so I used that for my stuff...

nice pics :)

Thx  ;D

i added a new pic, a good old buddhabrot with more than 12h of rendering.
We can clearly see the regular mandelbrot shape... many times.

About the topic, i'm still not sure about a genric name. what is it ? an orbit map ?
What about a "Mandelbrot Orbitmap", "Mandelbar orbitmap", etc ?
