you mean how its colored?  the hue is generated by a multiwave system inspired by pauldelbrot (kalles implements such a thing and calls it infinite waves for example).  the saturation and luminance on the other hand are being determined by a variation on slopes i arrived at after some experimentation...basically im just taking the lower-iteration points of a scene and compressing them down to a smaller range of low values, compressing the higher-iteration points up to a smaller range of high values, and feeding that into the slope math, resulting in kind of a DE-ish sort of boundary effect with a subtle 3D sort of effect.
