Title: Is it whipped cream? Is it flaky pastry? No! It is chewing gum! Post by: hobold on September 17, 2015, 09:32:42 AM Another 16 days of computation later, here is another Riemandelettuce animation.
This my first piece that can begin to hope to pretend to emulate anything that remotely resembles artistic qualities ... or something like that :). But the heritage of bland sterile scientific visualisation is still strong. http://vectorizer.org/rmdltc/originTumbleHD001.mp4 Technical details: the fractal type is an exotic but close relative to the mandelbulb, with monopolar spherical coordinates instead of the usual latitude/longitude (the coordinate system is essentially a reparameterised Riemann Sphere). The renderer is based on Syntopia's non-distance-estimation raytracer, after a long evolution of many small improvements. The morphing animation was done by moving the fixed point of the angular doubling step; in latitude/longitude coordinates this would be just a boring rotation or a shift across the equator - but in monopolar coordinates the effect is much more striking and weird. I want to thank everybody on fractalforums for the code, algorithms, formulas, and ideas they shared. It's a pleasure meeting you all here. :) Title: Re: Is it whipped cream? Is it flaky pastry? No! Repulsion - Attraction - Rotation and back. Great render! J Title: Re: Is it whipped cream? Is it flaky pastry? No! It is chewing gum! Post by: cKleinhuis on September 17, 2015, 01:38:22 PM @hobold thank you for the kind words, and thank you for participating so actively ;) the animation looks super smooth (time-wise) and very detailed (spatial-wise) ! |
