Title: Degree π (pi) mandelbulb - Exploding chicken
Post by: KRAFTWERK on December 17, 2009, 09:47:45 AM
New here... hello!  :)

Just started exploring the mandelbulb on my own, using Subblue:s "Mandelbulb ray tracing plugin for Photoshop, AfterEffects and QuartzComposer": http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-implementation/mandelbulb-ray-tracing-plugin-for-photoshop-aftereffects-and-quartzcomposer/ (http://www.fractalforums.com/mandelbulb-implementation/mandelbulb-ray-tracing-plugin-for-photoshop-aftereffects-and-quartzcomposer/)

It works great even on my old MacBook Pro...

Experimented yesterday with a degree Pi Mandelbulb, hoping it would reveal a mystery, but it dinīt ;)

Anyway, here it is:

by degree phi you mean (r,theta, phi)^phi ?

Looks very nice :)

Like a planet of a super odd flower garden :)

Tanks! :)

That might be what I mean ;-) Must admit my low understanding in the maths behind the bulb, I am beginning to learn ;-)

But the "standard" mandelbulb is of degree 8, (r,theta,phi)^8) ????
This is of degree 3.1415..

That's how mathematical I can be at the moment....  :(

Oh!

So, it's a degree PI Mandelbulb :)

be careful ;)

Pi \pi
Phi \phi

Quite a difference :)

Already wondered :)

Well, anyway, a nice one :)

Btw, what was the unsolved mystery ? :)

Oooooooooooooooooops!
I will correct!!! :)

Life, universe and everything?  :P

It's very unlikely that this would show a 42 all of a sudden ;P

Though Maybe you're not that much away :)
Fractals occur just about everywhere in nature, so it could be that fractals in general include some kind of key to life, universe and everything ;)

Considering that nature is based on rather simple-ish formulae which are iterated over and over again (each time step an other iteration), just with very complex possible interactions of a huge set of such simple formulas, it's actually very likely that this is true at least to some extend ;)

By the degree of (pi) mandelbulb, it looks great because of the mystery of  old artifacts. I'm agreeing that it was an old flower garden, that has various Fake Rocks (http://www.newprocontainers.com/rockafiller-faux-rocks) at the layer. I really like this plug in for Photoshop.

Well, I just found a Julia-Duck in this power PI (!) mandelbulb, THAT itīs VERY CLOSE to 42!  O0

You said it!
I really believe that, or at least hope that we someday will find the "42" in a formula, and fractals is a good bet i guess...
And surprisingly I now know where real life fruit-baskets come from:
