Title: Share your interesting places in famous fractals
Post by: solendil on September 08, 2015, 03:28:29 PM
Hi everybody,

FractalJS is a new fractal explorer targeted a beginners.
I would like to collect interesting places in famous fractal sets, in order to create a dedicated web page, or maybe an autopilot feature right in the program.
Could you take the time to try the program, compose your best pictures and post the links in this thread?

Let me begin:
A mandelbrot island : http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQB8VgAAbAewiCVd7svnv7yDQiys38C*aO05UFZk0T00Blo*AQAAAA__ (http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQB8VgAAbAewiCVd7svnv7yDQiys38C*aO05UFZk0T00Blo*AQAAAA__)

A small burning ship : http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQB*AQINaBDVihp4AXT*vyoH726aqKG+Rlo9Xldw0z4AAKBBAQAAAA__ (http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQB*AQINaBDVihp4AXT*vyoH726aqKG+Rlo9Xldw0z4AAKBBAQAAAA__)

Tippetts waves : http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQD*AAMPNCHn66lRmE*3v8BHiR+VuBu*es2PXyOUkD8CmeVAAQAAAA__ (http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/#AAQD*AAMPNCHn66lRmE*3v8BHiR+VuBu*es2PXyOUkD8CmeVAAQAAAA__)

I also created a thread dedicated to suggestions about FractalJS here http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=22327.0

Thank you, cheers,

Solendil

ah, this is a nice implementation with progressive zooming, if you create some embed code, we could make it an auto embed feature, but you might guess, we are interested in ultra deep zooms, have you tried implementing the pertubation method into the javascript code ? that would be awesome

it seems you encode the full parameter stack into a base64 code url, which might be suitable, but perhaps store it in a db, with descriptions for others to watch, because this way you acxtually have no idea what is linked to your site ...

just sayin, nice program

Hi,

FractalJS will very soon be embeddable, I'll keep you informed.

As for ultra deep zooms... I'm thinking about it but I'm not sure of what is the best method : arbitrary precision decimals, or perturbation method? Can the perturbation method zoom arbitrarily deep? Would you have a link to some informations about this method?

Sorry for the parameters not being visible for the moment. Yet something I need to add to the program. In the meantime, you can right click on the program, inspect the element or open the developer tool, go to the console, and there the parameter stack is written after each frame.

Thanks for your answer, I've created tickets on github to address all your remarks.
Cheers,

Solendil

pertubation method is using arbitrary precission for just a very few points to calculate, the rest is then obtained by single precision, i believe there exist js arbitrary precision libs which can help here

in this forum user kalle with his kalles fractaler program is an open source program where it is implemented, perhaps he breaks in here and points you to some implementation hints, i have not really much knowledge about its implementation, but should be doable and well worth the effort!

search for SuperFractalThing here on FF, you will find Java and C++ versions, well commented source, for some great locations search FF for Dinkydau ;)
