Title: Protist Post by: Pauldelbrot on December 16, 2009, 11:27:15 PM (http://u5789.direct.atpic.com/24796/0/1660198/1024.jpg) (http://pic.atpic.com/1660198/1024)
This image is obtained by zooming into Scepter Valley, locating the central square structure in a scepter which centers on a minibrot, finding a seahorse in that minibrot's Seahorse Valley, zooming repeatedly at the crown of the seahorse and then eventually into another square to find a microbrot, then off the tip of its spike a ways towards an eventual nanobrot (invisibly tiny, centered). The color gradient comes from a smoothed iterations layer; a 25% opaque black-on-white distance estimator layer provides the fine structure details as darkened forms. (The distance estimator uses a greyscale: distance beyond one pixel is transparent white, shading to opaque black with the logarithm of distance between 1 pixel and 0.00001 pixel, and opaque black within 0.00001 pixel.)
