Random Manifestations of 4th Dimension Exception #1440194847 Shot in Wroclaw, Poland. Actually a teaser for the short in that location. https://vimeo.com/136975195/ Title: Re: Exception 1440194847 Post by: 3dickulus on August 22, 2015, 01:17:37 AM O0

Something scary is just growing and moving through this ? museum. I'm afraid I would leave quietly from the side entrance ;) Really well done! Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: Patryk Kizny on August 24, 2015, 07:53:48 PM Exception #1440433338
With a score by Antony Hequet Shot in Funkhaus, Berlin. https://vimeo.com/137158091 Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: cKleinhuis on August 24, 2015, 08:43:38 PM very cool how you match the shadow and the floor with the orinal lighting!
Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: 3dickulus on August 25, 2015, 02:38:33 AM nice! finally! someone is documenting random fractal alien incursions O0
me thinks something is missing from the credits like maybe FractalForums.com? Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: Patryk Kizny on August 25, 2015, 03:33:37 AM Thanks! In the vimeo description:
Code: If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants In the next one I'll add it on the movie. :fiery: Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: 3dickulus on August 25, 2015, 05:24:29 AM just watched from the link 88) so I missed that
aside: I note the that error text gets embedded in the compiled shader binary, this may contribute to odd behaviour, if, while compiling, the errors make the size of the binary grow beyond the limit. it might be a good idea to nail them down. select menu item Edit->Shader Asm extracts all text from the compiled binary edit: i meant the warnings not the errors Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: Patryk Kizny on September 08, 2015, 01:32:02 PM You guys better check this out!

nice! Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: Patryk Kizny on September 09, 2015, 10:48:02 AM I took your suggestion and re-rendering. It eats children. That makes a better story.
Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: mclarekin on September 10, 2015, 11:39:28 PM It keeps getting better and better
Would like to see more shots with fractal shadow moving along smooth floor or wall. The shadow interplay makes it appear more real imho. What you have achieved so far is impressive. Look forward to more from you. :) BTW OpenCL in Mandelbulber v2 is yet to be implemented. I love the speed of Mandelbulber v1.21 OpenCL, but as Buddhi and Zebastian are the only two programmers currently working on the project, I have to be patient ( I hate being patient.) LOL Title: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: cKleinhuis on September 10, 2015, 11:50:09 PM I have to be patient ( I hate being patient.) LOL lol, you are the patientTitle: Re: Exception Shortfilms Post by: mclarekin on September 11, 2015, 01:15:32 AM Quote lol, you are the patient Never a truer word said in jest.LOL, The way Buddhi and Zebastian had tonurse me through learning to operate QT Creator, github and C++, I am definitely the patient. Unfortunately shadows are quite tricky. For that short video I have already built a set of matte objects and a matte material to mask out the thing (pillars). The matte object I have allows taking the shadows, but - as long as it's fairly simple to cast shadows on the floor and maybe a wall, it's getting tricker with more complicated objects. That particular movie has a huge modern bench on the floor which makes it impossible (in practice) to take that approach. In normal VFX pipelines, the way you'd normally integrate it is that you roughly model the scene (so add floors, walls, a rough model of the bench etc…) and just cast shadow on this geometry. Not a big deal if you have a normal modelling tools, but impossible when you work with DE-based renderers and distance fields. To make it more complicated, there are tracking imperfections and distortion of the backplate caused by the lens. Again - something that is normally quite easy to correct for, but not in a 'primitive' environment for rendering fractals. The only other workaround I see would be to render the fractal in any GLSLish shader and do all the compositing elsewhere. But that would require to model a rough approximation of the fractal in a standard 3D modelling software to cast shadows. (Or develop a pipeline to export voxels, convert to mesh etc…). All would be doable on a hollywood movie, but not necessarily with the amount of time I plan on spending on these projects.
