Height of each point based on escape time, I assume? The lower the iteration count the higher the point? Also, I like the smooth texturing. Very nice.

That's a value which is calculated by taking the running derivative of the function. It produces small values for points very close to the Mandelbrot set, and larger values for points further away. Distance estimate values are floating point values, and I prefer the shape I get with DE to the shape from escape times. Escape time plots tend to be much more "spiky", even if I use fractional iteration values.
