Newbie question: I have uploaded a pic to my avatar. I updates OK. When logging in later, the pic is changed to someone else or is missing altogether. What is the problem?
Any guidelines on posting your avatar to pic or gif? tks, Zot

I see one of the stock avatars ( all of which I always thought we should dump!).

Zot, have you tried using an external image host?  Sometimes there are problems uploading your own, but the stock ones, and externally hosted ones, seem to work best.  Mine is hosted on photobucket, but most image hosts should work.

I had endless problems getting an avatar to stick -- possibly because I didn't have any plain-http place to host it. I ended up uploading my pic to a comment thread on the forum as an attachment and linking to that, which is a bit of a kludge but works.

Yes, that works - and we have a few members who uploaded theirs to the gallery as well!

Thanks for reminding me.  I forgot about that option   :embarrass:

There is something about the avatar feature which goes crazy when other features are updated, and we can't figure it out, so it may be time to just disable the upload feature and replace it with a note suggesting the above mentioned options!

Thanks everyone for you suggestions. I will link to photo on this site or external. Bob Marley was a choice on the board that works but not my own. Now on to more interesting things like fractals. Zot.
